After gathering substantial moment for his second album, the talented indie artist, Youth Lagoon a.k.a Kevin Powers, has finally released his second album, Wondrous Bughouse.
The ten track release combines much of the familiar feels of the 22-year-old from Idaho as the album feels like one long, sometimes haunting, day dream.
This new album, release via Fat Possom Records, isn’t a huge departure from his debut album, which is sure to please current fans but he does also bring a significant amount of creativity to the new album and isn’t afraid to try something new, like live recorded drums being used on the new album. Though, perhaps the most crucial similarity in this new album is the artists mental and almost spiritual connection to the music. As he explains, “Youth Lagoon is something so personal to me because writing music is how I sort my thoughts, as well as where I transfer my fears,
“My mental state is usually pretty sporadic…a lot of this record was influenced by a fear of mortality but embracing it at the same time. Realizing that human life is only great because it is temporary. Experimenting with ideas about dimensions. I’m not a gifted speaker, so explaining things is difficult for me. But music always makes sense.”
The only tracks off the album we can share are the old releases, but they do give a real flavour for the album and are immensely popular for a reason. Listen to them below and find a link to the album below that.
