Head in the stars, feet on the ground – A collaborative project between Oliver Sweeney and The School of Life. Brand new for 2015, Oliver Sweeney introduces us to a unisex slip-on style, the Philosopher’s Shoe.
The shoe features a clean and minimal design, with ‘Head in the stars, feet on the ground’ embossed into the side of the sole. Made by the Oliver Sweeney artisans in Italy, it’s crafted from calf from the Carli tannery for a smooth finish, and features minimal wingtip brogue detailing that marks it out as special limited release. Using the signature yellow of The School of Life on the heel pull tab, and the insock, it also has The School’s logo subtly stamped on the sole.
Oliver Sweeney Cobbler-in-Chief, Tim Cooper, says:
“Growing up in France, my favourite philosopher was Albert Camus. In particular, this quote from L’Etranger has stayed with me: “Don’t walk behind me; I may not lead. Don’t walk in front of me; I may not follow. Just walk beside me and be my friend.” When making these shoes, this was one of the quotes that inspired them.”
