Winter, undoubtedly the least favoured time of the year. Summer quite easily wins the popularity contest for several simple reasons! Beach babes, sun tan’s and partying outside with friends, these are the simple things which more often that not result in the most enjoyable times of our year! For many of us, this winter has been a long one, with many people complaining of a lingering case of the “winter blues”.

However the calendar should now make for realtivly happy reading, there’s finally light at the end of the tunnel, the countdown to summer is on! If this alone isn’t enough to help you though, then we recommend you scroll on down and read our“5 Ways To Wave Goodbye to The Winter Blues”, pronto!

Take some time off work and watch movies – A new calendar year at work should hopefully bring some of your “employee benefits” back into action.

No sadly not a guaranteed pay rise, but you’re holiday entitlement should once again have reset itself! There’s no better time to be at home than during the winter, so snuggle up with the duvet on the sofa, put your middle finger up to the weather and watch a movie. Gaze outside the window and laugh in the face of commuters, whilst you sit there smug watching the latest entertaining comedy!

Laughing on your own will not only provide you with a little self-fulfillment, but you’ll also have completely forgotten about the weather outside. Winter blues? What winter blues.

Book some winter sun – Probably the most effective way to blitz your winter blues. Booking a holiday is not only a great opportunity to spend time with the family, friends and/or a partner, but it’s also a great form of relaxation, enabling you to declare a ‘new you’ once you return to reality.

Feeling the effects of the 9-5 slog? Grab a short weekend trip to a top European city, a 5-day beach haven or if the pockets are deep enough, how about a 7-day all-inclusive deal to somewhere tropical like the Bahamas or Jamaica? Luckily in this day and age it couldn’t be easier to make this a reality, sites like Thomas Cook, First Choice and SkyScanner (to name a few) offer packages just like to help you forget all about the ice and cold.

Run a bath – Probably the most cost-effective form of relaxation, a hot bath during wintertime is quite simply bliss! When you return home from your daily grind, kick the togs & clogs off and let the muscles soak up some warmth in a hot and steamy bubble bath. Add some scented candles for the ultimate relaxation experience!

Retail therapy – A little self-manipulation of the mind can come in handy all year round, but none more so than during the winter months. Keep telling yourself winter is almost over, and prepare for the summer season by treating yourself to some new garms!

Purchase key summer pieces, including swimming shorts, sunglasses, sun cream and possibly even some foreign currency (typically you can receive a great rate this time of year). Trick the mind that the summer is a matter of days away and it might just help you lose that winter blues feeling!

Make summer plans – Become the early bird and pencil in some key events into the diary for the summer. Having something to look forward to is a great way to put a smile on your face and help you lose the winter blues. Take your pick whilst its early, and book tickets for key summer calendar events, including Wireless, Lovebox, iTunes festival, Kew The music, Bushstock festival or Meltdown. *some may be sold out already though..
