Have you ever been to a house party, woken up the next day and not remembered a thing? Maybe you wish you’d strapped a video camera to your head to record the night? Well that is exactly what ASOS are doing. Only think less gaffa tape and visualise more of a professional production!
On 12 December, ASOS is hosting its first online house party, the world’s first ever digital global AND interactive online house party of its kind! The party will be taking place in the UK, North America and Australia. Hosted on asos.com/allnighter from 1800 GMT, performances will be taking place from Jessie Ware, Mount Kimbie, Eliphino and ISTROPICAL.
Part of the fun of the All Nighter is that you help shape the events of the night. ASOS will be releasing different sets throughout the night and the more people that visit the site the more chance there is that ASOS will unlock a special set from Jessie that features a new and exclusive track.
Like any house party, each room has something different going on. Political debate in the hall? Hmmm… Beer pong across the kitchen floor? Maybe not… How about boat races on the stairs? Not quite. During the ASOS All Nighter, you will find live, exclusive performances and dance offs in the living room, interviews round the kitchen table, and a live party-selfie Instagram competition taking place in the bathroom. People who tune in online will be able to navigate around the rooms using the interactive website.
Make sure you don’t miss the musical performances. South London songstress Jessie Ware will be headlining the event with an acoustic set. Ware’s LP debut Devotion was nominated for a Mercury Music Prize and reached number 5 in the UK album charts!
Having worked with musical monikers Sampha and SBTRKT in the past, Jessie is excited to be leading the show on her own for ASOS: “It’s great to be headlining the All Nighter – it’s the first time we’ve had a string section and I’ve got a surprise addition to my set.”
Eliphino will also be taking centre stage at the ASOS All Nighter. This Leeds-born, but London-based, beatmaker will be kicking things up a notch with his hip hop meets dancehall via jungle DJ set. His first release came out on Giles Peterson’s Brownswood imprint and his most recent EP has been put out on the house label Hypercolour. “I’m really excited to be a part of the ASOS All Nighter – especially to be the only DJ on a line up of such varied and talented artists,” he said.
London-based three piece ISTROPICAL are also set to be performing with some of their favourite bands alongside their favourite clothing store. Signed to the French music and fashion label, Kitsune, ISTROPICAL have released their second album just this year.
Post-dubstep duo Mount Kimbie will also be making an appearance at the All Nighter. Made up of Dominic Maker and Kai Campos, Mount Kimbie have been making music since 2008. Signed to Warp Records, they’re no longer a couple of bedroom producers new to the club circuit, but patron festival players, now working with drummer Tony Kus.
With Campos raised in Cornwall and Maker hailing from Brighton, you’d almost think they were the electronic answer to The Beach Boys. There’s plenty of good vibrations from these pair in their latest album, Cold Spring Fault Less Youth.
