Glass Animals – Life Itself

Glass Animals - Life Itself

Glass Animals have gone from peanut butter vibes to codeine coca-cola on “Life Itself,” a testament to the social pariah. It’s the first sign of a new album we’ve seen from the British 4-piece since the wavering synths of 2014’s Zaba, and we couldn’t be more excited.

If you’re a fan of the psychedelic indie-pop group, you’ll notice that this track is a bit different. Namely, it employs less production than their previous work- a choice that the band says is completely intentional.

With their upcoming album, they’ve decided to pursue a ‘more human’ approach to music. The goal is to emulate the flow of energy of their live shows, while showcasing lyrical stories that pay homage to human experience rather than evoke certain emotions.

“Life Itself” is a rollicking sonic ride complete with deep jungle percussion and body-shaking energy. If it’s any indication of what we can expect from the new album, I’d say we’re in for an zestful change in direction. In the mean time, we suggest brushing up on the old with our favorite track. Catch them on tour and listen below.
