While the action at the All-England Club was on hold last Sunday, for a traditional days rest, Maui Jim hosted an exclusive tennis clinic across the road on the grass courts of The Wimbledon Club. Attendees of the clinic were able to hone their skills against the former WTA #1 and Maui Jim brand ambassador Martina Hingis while being put through their paces by head coach of the All England Club Dan Bloxham for a special one-off coaching session.
After an energetic warmup and some fun coaching drills, players were then invited to take part in a special competition, tasked with hitting as many tennis balls as possible into baskets positioned in different areas of the court. To make things a little more exciting Maui Jim pledged a donation for every tennis ball that landed in a basket. A generous cheque of £1,650 was later presented to Optometry Giving Sight which was then doubled by Hans Mr Hans-Jürgen Penzek, Vice President Europe Maui Jim on behalf of the premium sunglasses company, making a grand total of £3,300 raised for the charity. A day of fun for a worthy cause, thanks Maui Jim!
