Nordic inspired Oslo in Hackney has had rave reviews since it opened its doors back in January. The increasingly popular nightspot has maintained its original part of the old Victorian Hackney Central station, creating a warehouse atmosphere for the excited locals of E8.
Step inside, and you’ll notice exposed brickwork, minimalistic furniture within a dynamic railway scenary location, which makes for a truly innovative space and experience. Aside from its frequent live music shows, serving of food and drink, Oslo also opens its doors throughout the day, as a daytime hub, which only furthers its appeal.
Tomorrow night (01/05/2014) sees the launch of IRIDESCENT, Oslo’s newest garage, punk, psych and pop themed music residency. Its debut sees an amazing lineup and locker full of audio/visual delights and rarities in store, with the likes of Sam Davies, Raw Meats DJs, Sumo Science and Leigh-Dionne all making appearances throughout the evening.
If that wasn’t enough, legendary film-maker, Peter Whitehead, will be displaying a vault of ground-breaking documentaries and music videos. Rare and never before seen footage including The Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, Nico, The Animals, Pink Floyd and The Beach Boys will be projected and remixed live on the night.
Iridescent’s debut at Oslo looks set to be a special one, and well worth the £5.00 ticket fee. However, if you sadly can’t make it down, be sure to check out Oslo soon, and view a list of forthcoming events here.
