Hosted by expert mixologist Dom Balfour, Pitch Black Bar is a brand new offering to the cobbled streets of Covent Garden. Providing an underground drinking experience like none other, guests are challenged to drink in the dark and identify the cocktails and wines – using only their senses. Taking place at the underground setting of No Such Place on Neal Street it’s a totally unique and mysterious 90-minutes!

Dubbed the ‘Dans Le Noir’ of the drinking world, Pitch Black came to fame after the successful launch of their pop in Shoreditch late last year. Now they’re back again! Settling in their flagship destination in one of London’s best locations, Covent Garden. Pitch Black is located at No Such Place (No we’re not kidding, that’s really the name of the venue) and is on Neal Street, just a few steps away from the famous Seven Dials, one of the trendiest restaurant, theatre and shopping destinations of the Capital city.
Enjoy a warm welcome reception with bubbles on arrival before entering the unknown. In keeping with the same principals as before, the project boldly aims to shift the focus solely on the facets of flavour, aroma and mouthfeel as opposed to presentation. Dismiss any fears you have about being cast into a disorienting dark den, as guests will initially enter a gently lit space, be formally introduced to their server and have the opportunity to familiarise themselves with their surroundings before the lights go down. At lights out, staff and patrons are invited to remain communicative, discussing the festival of herbaceous, sweet, savoury and floral treats set before them.
The session lasts for 90 minutes, but don’t worry, there is a short interval. During which time, guests are presented with an amuse bouche and a palate cleanser to prepare them for the next course of drinks.
The blind tasting is taking the phrase quite literally, and is a completely interactive experience. Expect some witty banter, and a pleasant surprise once your drinks are revealed to you at the end of the session.
Entry to ‘Pitch Black’ is on a strictly bookings only basis, where tickets may be purchased via the website. Allocated time slots of 90 minutes are available for what is a fully experimental experience.
