Watch the winning films from Magnum ice cream & i-D’s Vie Magnifique competition

i-d magazine x magnum video

Here at Tinman London, we value creative thinking and enjoy showcasing it. So when we heard that Magnum ice cream and i-D had teamed up for Be True To Your Pleasure, a competition that invited aspiring filmmakers to send in their short film ideas about personal pleasure and the joy of letting go, we wanted to know more.

The judging panel, which included Xavier Dolan chose their favourite three, with the winners going on to receive production support, financial grants, and – here’s the best part – a mentorship from Dolan himself to help them create the film.

The three competition winners were announced last month, and the winning films were recently premiered on i-D. The winners and their movies are below.

Kai by Andrew Cumming
Andrew Cumming’s Kai film tells the story of an isolated dance student who resumes her connection with dance through encouragement from her peers and finds pleasure in letting go.

Wild Space by Kara Smith
Kara Smith’s Wild Space sees a fisherman battle for the heart of his true love and finding pleasure in following his heart.

Zap by Patrick Downing
Patrick Downing’s Zap takes a light-hearted humorous direction, showing an elderly couple sharing a funny moment and proves that pleasure is ageless.
