the ship shape – lorikeet

the ship shape - lorikeet

As a music blogger, it’s part of my job to try and find the next big thing. As such, I spend hours sifting through music with certain ear-pleasing formulas to attract a specific audience. It’s essentially become a sonic science. So when I decide to cover a quirky track solely for the sake of strangeness, it’s quite exciting!

“Lorikeet” is one of those tracks, and it’s fun as hell. While swimming through the abyss of SoundCloud, this wonderfully weird track caught my ear. The artist describes the sound as “bobbing music” and I can’t help but agree. In fact, this track is so spacey and amorphous, it’s quite difficult to describe otherwise. Fusing funky basslines, intergalactic synths and general weirdness, this is an atypical and obscure musical creation unlike your typical viral blog track.

The Ship Shape is an electronic Australian artist with sound akin to The Polish Ambassador. As such, I have a feeling he’d fit right in at a Burning Man style festival. With only 113 followers on SoundCloud, it’s safe to say he’s a bit of a secret. Give him a follow and show your appreciation for groovy alien music.
