Drink, Shop & Do’s Week of Birthday Celebrations

Drink, Shop & Do, the all-day café, bar and store that gives guests the chance to guzzle cocktails while fighting killer Lego robots, make their own nipple tassels while tucking into cake, or simply ice Lionel Richie’s luscious locks on to a biscuit, is celebrating its 5th Birthday Party, and everyone’s invited.

Drink Shop & Do has been bringing its unique blend of adult entertainment to Kings Cross since 2010 and will be marking its birthday on 6th August 2015 with a special week of eclectic crafts, delicious drinks and quirky workshops.

Kicking off on Monday 3rd August, the week of festivities begins with the ultimate dance lesson, where guests can unleash their inner diva and learn the moves to Lady Gaga and Beyonce’s ‘Telephone’. Taking it down a notch in another room, Mr X Stitch will be on hand to help with any threading issues at this regular craft ‘DO’. Tuesday’s Pimp Your Cup session is all about jazzling up paper cups and filling it with Pimp Punch. Wednesday’s Birthday Piñata crams as many sweets as possible into a confined space, ready to be whacked open to celebrate the big day. Thursday night is the press and VIP party and Friday is all about Old Skool Beats and Old Skool Sweets – the perfect taste combination.

Co-founded in 2010 by life-long friends Kristie Bishop and Coralie Sleap, Drink, Shop & Do was created to provide a fun space in which Londoners could escape the monotony of adult life. Drink, Shop & Do’s abundance of fun and frivolity is drawn from two girls’ own huge passions, inventive personalities and drinks and Arts backgrounds.

Now, five years later, DSD’s wide range of hugely successful day time and evening events vary from Calligraphy lessons, vintage hair tutorials and musical bingo to workshops like Lego Robots, Lionel Rich-Tea and Pin the Pussy on the Pornstar. Each workshop or ‘DO’ is unique and attracts all kinds of craft, music and dance fans. Later on, the venue transforms into a late night haunt bursting with booze and beats.

A light and airy space, Drink Shop & Do sits on an ex-Turkish bathhouse in the heart of the hub of Kings Cross. Spread over two floors, customers are first greeted by a colourful shop selling old-school sweets, beautifully crafted homeware and jewellery, vintage pieces, and designer stationery.

Upstairs is a light-filled and colourful 50 cover cafe serving afternoon tea, light meals and bar snacks, accompanied by speciality teas, and a cocktail list of refreshing and feisty concoctions, a range of spritzes, fruity punch jars, and an impressive gin collection. The café space leads on to a further domed room sporting an impressive disco ball – the perfect location for many of the ‘DOs’. Downstairs, a basement bar complete with sound system and DJ equipment is the ideal place to end the evening with drinks and dancing.

Drink, Shop & Do is a relaxed refuge away from the humdrum of everyday life and the perfect place for Londoners to develop newfound skills, try something unusual and stir-up the creative juices while indulging in a well deserved cocktail or two.
