el Jimador Tequila has teamed up with VICE to deliver ‘Mexology Music’, a film exploring Mexico’s emerging electronic music scene. Mexology Music is part of el Jimador’s Discover Mexology hub, now live via vice.com. The hub serves as an aweseome way to not only discover Mexico’s underground music scene but also tasty Mexican restaurants here in London, visual arts and many other of Mexico’s charms.
To celebrate the project, el Jimador threw a party several fridays ago (01.11.13) to celebrate Day of the Dead, the Mexican festival which honours the lives of the deceased, and we paid it a visit! Experiencing Mexico in artistic form was clearly on the menu, thankfully minus the long distance flight, no lengthy wait for luggage nor passport control. There really was no way we were going to say no to this one!
The “Dia De Muertos” (Day of the dead) event was held at The Old Blue Last pub in Shoreditch , with a night full of fun Mexican themed tributes, live music and a mixed group of party-goers! Live performances included: Charlie Boyer & The Voyeurs, Temple Songs, Neon Windbreaker, Toy (DJS) and several Vice DJS at different stages of the evening. Besides the live music and elaborate Mexican decor, another feature of the night was tequila. el Jimador provided an array of different authentic Mexican Tequila long drinks, known as ‘Palomas’. The 4 Palomas combined tequila with cranberry, elderflower, lime and Ting: a truly Mexican drinking experience!
